In 1982, the foundations of the film industry were lightly-shaken and certainly not stirred by the neon sci-fi video game fantasy world embodied in the film Tron. Now, twenty-eight years later, the sequel that quite literally nobody save for ultra superdorks was waiting for is poised for a big-screen explosion of mediocrity.  The good news is, not only are a few of the original stars returning (BRUCE BOXLEITNER!!!), but when they redo the latest trailer they can boast that it features “Academy Award-winner Jeff Bridges.” Saddest though is no Caddyshack hottie Cindy Morgan, she  discusses her reaction to being left out here.

In any case, dorks, prepare to have your balls blown off by the latest peek at Tron: Legacy. Hey, at least they threw in a few cute chicks.

I very strongly disagree with the writer of this article; that implies "only ultra super dorks await" and I vehemently disagree with the statement that "Tron" or it's sequel was or is "mediocrity."
Please, the movie is a cult classic loved by many kids that loved arcade games, the Atari 2600 and new fantastical worlds, those fans of the film have grown up and became videogame developers, conceptual design artists, CGI artists/3-D CG animators, even founded Pixar John Lassiter was inspired to form Pixar and created CG animated films because of Tron, or it's fans went on to be very involved in the digital effects industry, or videogame industry.

All these people are not "ultra super dorks" and they loved the original film and thought a sequel would be pretty awesome.
"Tron" was cyber punk before William Gibson released his novel Neuromancer, and featured a hacker, self-aware humanistic "Programs", and a megalomaniacal Artificial Intellengence long before people heard of "Skynet" ,"Terminator" 18 yrs before "The Matrix".
It was a groundbreaking film, and deserves some respect for f**k sake.

The article writer's remarks reall are not amusing. "TronReboot" at least is funny.

Tron Legacy is being marketed well so far with special Alternte Reality Game events, and showings of this new trailer in all IMAX theatres.
It is posed to appeal to modern audiences with it's new tale of a fantastical odyssey into an evolved cyberspace realm, with deadly games of life and death, and Sam Flynn in search for his father that has been missing for over 20 yrs.

I agree with the earlier post. TRON was THE ground-breaker as far as alternate-reality/CGI goes. Too bad current Hollywood writers keep forgetting where they are getting (or outright plagiarizing) all their recent ideas from, considering how many remakes we are all having to suffer through. I doubt they'd have an original thought of their own without a dollar bill attached to it.
